7 Dead, 200 Ill from Contaminated Water in Madhugiri

Tumkur: A 67-year-old man named Jayarappa has died after consuming contaminated water in Chinnenahalli village of Madhugiri taluk. This brings the total death toll to seven individuals.

Over 200 people have reported falling ill with symptoms of vomiting and dysentery after drinking the contaminated water. They are currently receiving treatment in various hospitals. Jayarappa was initially treated at the district hospital but was later transferred to a private hospital on June 13 due to severe health complications. He received intensive care unit treatment until his passing.

According to Dr. D.N. Manjunath, the District Health Officer (DHO), seven more individuals remain in intensive care at a private hospital for continued treatment related to this incident. The investigation into the source of contamination is ongoing, and efforts are being made to provide necessary medical support and prevent further cases of illness or death.
