A violent altercation broke out in Madhugiri on Wednesday night over the setting off of firecrackers following the immersion of a Ganesha idol, resulting in a young man being stabbed. The incident occurred near Meke Bande, where 23-year-old Madhu, a local resident, was injured during a confrontation between two groups.

Tensions arose after the Ganesha idol was immersed at the Maramma Temple on the town’s outskirts, where local youth and residents had installed the idol. Following the immersion, the lighting of firecrackers led to disagreements that escalated into a physical fight.

Madhu was rushed to a public hospital in Madhugiri for treatment. Local police arrived at the hospital to gather information and investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities are working to stabilise the situation and prevent further violence within the community.
