Tumakuru: A 25-year-old engineering graduate was apprehended by the Tumakuru police for allegedly stealing women’s undergarments from rented accommodations of female students. The accused, identified as Sharath, resides in IV Cross, SIT area, Tumakuru.

The incident came to light when several young women noticed their lingerie missing. Alarmed by repeated thefts, they alerted their landlord, who then lodged a police complaint at the New Extension station on March 7.

Upon reviewing CCTV footage, authorities discovered Sharath parking his two-wheeler near the girls’ residence and discreetly taking the garments. During interrogation, he admitted to committing similar acts in multiple areas, including SIT, SS Puram, and Ashoknagar.

Police revealed that Sharath had developed a habit of watching adult content, which influenced his behavior. A native of Chikkanayakanahalli, Tumakuru district, he belongs to a well-educated family, with both parents working as teachers and his elder brother employed as an engineer. His family was unaware of his actions until law enforcement informed them.

Despite his arrest, he was released on bail, with authorities issuing a strict warning against further offenses. The female students, however, refrained from filing a formal complaint or giving statements.
