Tumkur: A dramatic escape unfolded at the detention center for foreign women near Dibbur in the city, as two Bangladeshi women managed to flee on Saturday night, leaving authorities perplexed.
The women who escaped have been identified as Reshma (45) and Liza Shaika (25). They had been brought to the center two months ago due to expired visas. The secretary of the center, G.B. Mareppa, filed a complaint at the local police station, stating that “the women escaped after jumping from the ceiling of their living quarters.” A case has been registered in response.
The detention facility currently houses 21 foreign women whose visas have expired and who have entered the country illegally. In light of this incident, a heightened police presence has been implemented around the area, while an investigation is underway to determine exactly how they managed to escape.
Authorities, including staff on duty, the warden, and the secretary, have been questioned. Further information is expected only after a thorough investigation is completed.
