Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna has revealed that the Central government has approved the construction of five overpasses in Tumakuru district, with an estimated cost of Rs 350 crore. Notably, this project will be fully funded by the railway department, with no financial input required from the state government. Somanna highlighted the importance of these overpasses in fostering economic development and improving the quality of life for local residents.

In addition to this infrastructure boost, special trains will be introduced to handle the expected passenger surge in August 2024. These trains will connect Bengaluru with several destinations in North Karnataka and Kalyana Karnataka to manage the increased travel demand. The special train services will include routes such as Hubballi to Yesvantpur, Yesvantpur to Belagavi, Belagavi to Yesvantpur, Bengaluru (SMVB) to Vijayapura, Vijayapura to Bengaluru (SMVB), Bengaluru (SMVB) to Hubballi, Bengaluru (SMVB) to Kalburgi, Gulbarga to Bengaluru (SMVB), and Hubballi to Bengaluru (SMVB). The trains will operate on specific dates throughout the month to accommodate the heavy rush.

These developments are set to enhance regional connectivity and support economic activity in the areas served.
