V. Somanna Promises Quadruple Rail Track Development
Tumakuru: Union Minister of State for Railways, V. Somanna, has announced plans for a quadruple rail track between Tumakuru and Bengaluru, addressing the growing rail traffic in the region. During an event marking the launch of a new MEMU train service to Yesvantpur, Somanna highlighted the need for improved infrastructure as Tumakuru emerges as a viable alternative city to Bengaluru.
The Minister detailed that the Tumakuru-Davangere and Tumakuru-Rayadurga railway lines are set to be completed by March 2027, with plans to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the inauguration. Additionally, a ₹220 crore project for automatic signalling on the Tumakuru-Arsikere route is underway, aiming to enhance safety and efficiency.
The newly inaugurated MEMU train service will depart Tumakuru at 8:45 AM and arrive in Yesvantpur at 10:25 AM. The return journey will leave Yesvantpur at 5:40 PM, reaching Tumakuru by 7:05 PM. This service will operate daily except on Sundays and will stop at all stations along the route. Furthermore, a weekly MEMU train will be introduced from Bengaluru’s Banaswadi to Tumakuru every Monday morning, taking a different route via Chikkabanavara.
In a separate discussion, Somanna voiced his concerns regarding Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s recent decision mandating state government approval for CBI investigations, describing it as a misstep. He urged the Chief Minister, an experienced politician, to reconsider this decision, suggesting that it could lead to complications in governance and law enforcement.
With these developments, the railway infrastructure in Karnataka is poised for significant improvements, enhancing connectivity and supporting the region’s growth.
