Udupi City Police have made significant strides in addressing complaints of lost mobile phones through the Karnataka State Police (KSP) app. In a commendable effort, they have utilized the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal—an initiative by the Government of India designed to trace lost or stolen mobile devices—to successfully recover 80 mobile phones in 2024 alone.

Of these recovered devices, 50 have already been returned to their rightful owners, showcasing the effectiveness of this initiative. The total estimated value of the recovered phones is around Rs 10 lakh, highlighting the importance of such recoveries for the local community.

On Thursday, October 24, a ceremony was held where 32 additional mobile phones were returned to their owners. The event was attended by Udupi’s Deputy Superintendent of Police, Prabhu D T, alongside Police Inspector Sridhar Vasanth Satare and sub-inspectors Puneeth Kumar B E, Eranna Shiragumpi, and Bharatesh Kankanawadi.

This success underscores the commitment of the Udupi City Police to leveraging technology for enhancing public safety and ensuring that residents can recover their lost property efficiently.
