
Accused in 21-Year-Old Cattle Theft Case Arrested
Udupi: The Manipal police have successfully arrested a man who had been absconding for 21 years in a cattle theft case. Syed Mustaq (45), a resident of Kattapadi, was apprehended on August 24.
The case dates back to 1993 when Devendra Nayka filed a complaint with the Manipal police station, alleging that two cattle had been stolen from his field near the Indrali Temple in Shivalli. The accused was arrested and produced before the court but subsequently fled to avoid facing trial.
The current investigating officer, Devaraja T.V., led a team of Manipal police officers in the operation to apprehend the accused. Mustaq was found near Manipur Gujji House in Kattapadi and was subsequently arrested and brought before the court.
This arrest marks a significant development in the 21-year-old case, bringing closure to the victim and justice to the community.
