On August 13, in Kanchinadka, officials from the State Road Development Corporation faced strong opposition from the Anti-Toll Protest Committee during an inspection of the proposed toll gate site. Raghu L, executive engineer, and Hemant Kumar, assistant engineer, were met by protesters who gathered at the site upon learning of their visit.

Despite the officials providing detailed information about the toll project, the activists, led by Suhas Hegde, firmly rejected the construction, asserting that they would not permit it under any circumstances. The situation escalated with a verbal altercation between the protesters and the company’s employees, leading to the latter being forced to leave the site. Police intervened, advising the employees to depart and attempting to calm the protesters.

The officials were later recalled to provide additional information, but the protesters remained resolute in their demand for the cancellation of the toll gate. Hegde announced plans for a large-scale protest within five days to oppose the toll gate proposal.
