Udupi: In a heartening gesture of educational and environmental support, the Udupi Badagabettu Credit Co-operative Society held a special event at Udupi Town Hall on Saturday. The program focused on empowering students from Kannada medium schools by distributing free notebooks, educational materials, and presenting the Pratibha Puraskar awards.

President Jayakar Shetty Indrali emphasized the society’s commitment to environmental responsibility. Citing a directive from the Central Cooperative Ministry, he shared the society’s resolution to ensure the planting of one lakh trees across households in the district, underlining the need to give back to nature for its countless contributions.

The event was formally inaugurated by Udupi Tahsildar P.R. Gururaj, and graced by guests including Environmental Engineer Ravi Prakash from the Udupi Municipal Corporation and Deputy Registrar Lavanya K.R. from the Cooperative Societies.

JCI National Trainer Rajendra Bhatt delivered an inspiring talk aimed at motivating students. Around 35 students were presented with notebooks worth ₹15 lakh, along with other learning supplies. Talented individuals were recognized with awards to celebrate their achievements.

In an eco-conscious move marking International Cooperation Year 2025, students were also given saplings to plant under the meaningful initiative “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”—a tribute linking motherhood and nature.

Also present at the event were CEO Anusha Kotian, Vice President George Samuel, GM Rajesh V. Sherigar, and board members including Purushottam Shetty, Jaya Shetty, L. Umanath, Sadashiva Nayaki, Vinay Kumar, and Abdul Razzak.
