Udupi: The ongoing protests and sit-ins staged by the BJP targeting the Karnataka state government have drawn sharp criticism from Congress leaders, who deem them baseless and poorly directed. KPCC campaign committee head and former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake remarked that the demonstrations held in front of local government offices lack clarity and have failed to connect with the public.

Addressing a press meet in Kapu, Sorake took a jibe at the BJP, stating, “They are making a mockery of themselves by staging protests against the very government policies they once backed.” He pointed out that a significant number of BJP leaders protesting are, in fact, direct beneficiaries of the state’s flagship guarantee schemes.

Instead of engaging in superficial protests, Sorake urged BJP representatives to focus on resolving practical issues at the grassroots level. He emphasized the need to address pending applications for house sites and title deeds at gram panchayat offices, which, he said, would have a real impact on citizens’ lives.

Sorake called for a shift from theatrics to action, suggesting that BJP leaders should help speed up bureaucratic processes rather than stage demonstrations that achieve little.

Joining him at the press conference were Kapu Block Congress President Y. Sukumar, Kapu Taluk Guarantee Scheme Monitoring Committee President Navinchandra Suvarna, and party figures Kapu Diwakara Shetty, Shantalatha Shetty, and Muhammad Niaz.
