Udupi: The Brahma Kumaris branches in Udupi and Manipal will organize a special public Rakshabandhan celebration on August 9 at 6 PM, announced BK Saurabha, coordinator of the Manipal branch, during a press meet in Udupi.

Highlighting the broader significance of the festival, Saurabha explained that Rakshabandhan is more than a tradition between siblings—it symbolizes universal brotherhood, spiritual purity, and communal harmony. In today’s unpredictable world, the festival serves as a reminder to embrace human values and spiritual consciousness, she said.

The Rakhi, traditionally a token of sibling love, is viewed by the Brahma Kumaris as a sacred thread of connection to the Supreme Soul, encouraging people to lead lives rooted in peace, purity, and compassion.

This year, the Brahma Kumaris team plans to extend the celebration beyond their centres by conducting Rakhi ceremonies across schools, colleges, hospitals, government offices, and other public venues throughout the Udupi-Manipal region. The goal is to promote value-based living and foster unity across all sections of society, regardless of caste, creed, or gender.

The initiative seeks to remind individuals of their spiritual identity and shared humanity, encouraging an atmosphere of inner peace and mutual respect.

Also present at the briefing were Suma, Udupi branch coordinator, and Sujatha, co-coordinator from Manipal.
