In a daring burglary, thieves broke into a house in Permude and escaped with nearly 1 kg of gold ornaments from a locker. The theft was discovered on Tuesday.
The house belongs to Janwin Pinto, whose son Praveen Pinto resides in Kuwait. Taking advantage of the vacant home, the burglars approached from a CCTV blind spot, adjusted camera angles, and broke window iron rods to enter undetected.
Despite the presence of eight pet dogs, including Mudhol and German Shepherd breeds, the criminals skillfully avoided them. They located the locker key, looted gold ornaments and watches, and fled without raising suspicion.
The crime was uncovered when two workers, who visit daily to feed the dogs, noticed the break-in and alerted the owners in Kuwait.
Following the report, ACP K Srikanth, Inspector Sandeep, forensic experts, and the canine squad inspected the scene. Authorities will confirm the exact value of stolen items after the owners return on Wednesday.
