A case has been registered against former minister Pramod Madhwaraj following controversial remarks made during a fishermen’s protest at Malpe port on Saturday, March 22. In his speech, Madhwaraj appeared to justify the assault on a woman, stating, “What would we do if thieves entered our house? What would happen if the police were delayed by 5-6 hours? Are we supposed to hit them with a machete or sword? Who did that? The accused—did he cause any harm to the woman?”
These comments were widely interpreted as an attempt to rationalize the assault and potentially encourage criminal behavior. Madhwaraj’s speech was seen as provocative and inflammatory, leading to a formal complaint being lodged at the Malpe Police Station.
Authorities have now filed the case, citing his remarks as an incitement to public disorder. The investigation is currently ongoing as the police look into the matter further.
