
Drunken Rage Turns Fatal: Man Kills Wife with Sword in Udupi
Udupi– A gruesome murder unfolded on Thursday night in Hosamat, located in Hiliana village, Brahmavar taluk, where a man allegedly killed his wife in a drunken fury.
The victim has been identified as Rekha (27), a resident of Hosamat. Her husband, Ganesh Poojary (42), hailing from Kolamba village, has been taken into custody by Shankaranarayana police in connection with the crime.
According to police sources, Ganesh, who worked as a house painter, returned home intoxicated and entered into a heated argument with Rekha. The quarrel quickly escalated, leading Ganesh to brutally attack her with a sword. Rekha sustained severe injuries and died instantly at the scene.
Following the fatal assault, Ganesh fled the location. However, the Shankaranarayana police, acting swiftly, launched a manhunt and successfully apprehended the suspect shortly thereafter.
The couple had been married for several years and are survived by their two young sons, aged six and three. The tragic incident has left the local community in shock and distress.
A formal case has been registered at the Shankaranarayana Police Station, and further investigation is ongoing.
Authorities have assured that justice will be pursued swiftly and that the children will receive necessary support in the wake of the tragedy.
