Udupi— BJP Backward Classes Front Udupi District President Vijaya Kodavoor has issued a strong statement criticizing District In-charge Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar for her prolonged absence and inaction regarding the pressing issues faced by Udupi residents. Addressing a press conference, Kodavoor urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to “find and send” the minister to the district immediately.
Kodavoor warned that if people’s problems remain unresolved, BJP workers would launch a public agitation in front of all taluk offices across the constituency.
Highlighting the gravity of the situation, he pointed out that natural disasters have caused losses amounting to ₹248 crore in the district, yet no compensation has been disbursed. “No funds have been allocated for alternative festivals, basic infrastructure improvements, or sea erosion barriers. The in-charge minister should be acting like a daughter of the district, but she is nowhere to be seen,” he added.
State Vice President of the BJP Backward Classes Morcha, Airodi Vitthal Poojary, also lashed out at the state government for transferring simple single-site plan approvals from gram panchayats to the Urban Development Authority. “This move has caused delays, with 11,000 files pending. The poor can’t build homes, and construction workers are left jobless,” he said.
He further alleged that Minister Hebbalkar only visits Udupi ceremonially but fails to engage with the actual issues of the people.
BJP leaders Adarsh Nayari, Sushant Brahmavar, and Surendra Kulal were present during the press briefing.
