Udupi: In a sensational development, former Deputy Superintendent of Police Anupama Shenoy has made serious allegations regarding the RCB celebration stampede case, which left multiple people injured. Shenoy claims that cricketer Virat Kohli is being unfairly made an accused in the government’s report.

In her statement, Shenoy rejects the findings of the official investigation and points fingers at a smuggling mafia active in Bengaluru, alleging their involvement in orchestrating the confusion at the venue. She stated that groups from KJ Halli and DJ Halli were mobilized to create deliberate chaos during the event.

Shenoy revealed that she has written to Bangalore District Magistrate Jagadish, who is currently conducting a magisterial inquiry into the incident. She claims the broader motive behind the confusion was to sabotage the career of officer Dayanand, a senior candidate for the post of DGP and IGP, in favor of Salim, whose appointment she calls conspiratorial.

She further linked the incident to the Ramya Rao smuggling case, suggesting that senior police politics is at play, pointing to Alok Kumar’s removal and Dayanand’s suspension by Salim.

Anupama Shenoy questioned the logic of blaming Kohli, noting that a video by the cricketer on social media was cited in the report as a trigger for the crowd. “Do they have records showing all viewers of that video flew down and gathered at the venue in a single day?” she asked.

Calling the accusation baseless, she demanded that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah apologize to Virat Kohli’s fans and urged RCB’s legal team to re-examine the allegations mentioned in the letter to the magistrate.

“Virat Kohli should be protected, not prosecuted,” Shenoy concluded.
