
Four Family Members Die in Tragic Road Accident in Udupi
In a devastating road accident, four members of the same family lost their lives near Pajegudde curve under Karkala rural police station limits on Monday. The incident involved a collision between a lorry and a motorcycle.
According to police reports, the accident occurred between 3:50 pm and 4 pm when a lorry, traveling from Bajagoli towards Dharmasthala, crashed into a motorcycle heading towards Nallur from Venur. The deceased have been identified as Suresh Acharya, 35, who was riding the motorcycle, and his children Sumiksha, 7, Sushmitha, 5, and Sushanth, 2. His wife, Meenakshi, 32, who was also on the bike, is critically injured and undergoing treatment.
The tragic accident is believed to have been caused by the lorry driver’s speeding and negligence. Suresh, Sumiksha, and Sushanth died on the spot, while Meenakshi and Sushmitha were rushed to a hospital in Karkala. Unfortunately, Sushmitha succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. The lorry driver, Hemant, has been arrested, and an investigation is ongoing.
