Udupi district witnessed a tragic Sunday as four individuals lost their lives in separate road accidents reported across various taluks.

On the Udupi–Kundapur stretch of National Highway 66 near Gundmi, Ravindra, a scooter rider, succumbed to injuries after being struck by a speeding tempo traveller. Police reported the vehicle was being driven recklessly near a petrol station. Ravindra suffered multiple injuries to his chest and legs, and despite being rushed to a private hospital, he passed away during treatment. A case has been filed at Kota police station.

In Karkala taluk, Raghavendra, 40, died after a tempo hit his motorcycle near Manjalthar in Mala village. The vehicle, allegedly driven rashly towards Bajagoli, caused severe head trauma and limb injuries. He was transported to a hospital but could not be saved. Karkala rural police are investigating.

Meanwhile, in Brahmavar, a pedestrian named Ashok was fatally hit by a lorry on the Brahmavar–Barkur road near Handadi village. The truck, driven by Prakash, struck him while he was crossing the road. He suffered a critical head injury and was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital. Brahmavar police registered the incident.

In Shirva village, Leena Mathias died after a speeding car, driven by Preetham, rammed into her while she stood roadside near a church. Leena sustained head, hip, and arm injuries and died at a private hospital in Udupi. The Shirva police have filed a case.
