Kundapur: Gangolli Police Station in Udupi district has secured seventh place among Karnataka’s 10 best-performing police stations in a statewide assessment covering the decade from January 1, 2016, to the present review period.

The recognition makes Gangolli the only police station from Udupi district to feature in the top 10 rankings. The station, which comes under the Byndoor Circle of the Kundapur Police Sub-Division, scored 67.22 marks out of 100.

Assessment covers 14 performance parameters

The Karnataka Police Department evaluated stations across the state using a framework of 14 key performance indicators (KPIs). Each parameter carried a weightage of five or 10 marks, with the combined score determining the rankings.

The assessment covered several aspects of policing, including efforts to reduce road accidents, filing charge sheets, implementation of e-beat policing, use of the e-Sakshya system for electronic evidence and issuing e-summons.

Other criteria included maintaining records of offenders and rowdy-sheeters, taking appropriate action against them, resolving public complaints promptly and responding effectively to public concerns.

The assessment aimed to measure both operational performance and the delivery of police services over the review period.

Raichur station tops statewide ranking

Yapaladinni Police Station in Raichur district secured the first position in the statewide assessment.

The top 10 list also includes Nanjangud Rural Police Station in Mysuru district, Naregal and Mulagund police stations in Gadag district, Shaktinagar and Idapanur police stations in Raichur district, Hulsur Police Station in Bidar district, Nargund Police Station in Gadag district and Gadag Town Police Station.

Gangolli’s seventh-place finish places Udupi district among the districts represented in the state’s top-performing stations.

Recognition for Udupi district police

Gangolli Police Station’s performance reflects its score across the department’s range of policing and administrative indicators. Its inclusion in the statewide list marks recognition for the station and the Udupi district police department.

The assessment considered multiple aspects of police functioning rather than a single measure, including public responsiveness, complaint disposal and the adoption of digital policing systems.

Gangolli is the sole police station from Udupi district to make the top 10, according to the assessment results reported by Daijiworld.
