Udupi: Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot inaugurated the Sri Krishna Janmashtami Mandalotsava at Rajangana, organized by Paryaya Sri Puthige Math of Sri Krishna Math, Udupi, on July 25. He commenced the celebrations by breaking a clay pot, lighting a ceremonial lamp, and offering flowers to Lord Krishna’s idol.

Highlighting Lord Krishna’s teachings, the Governor quoted the Bhagavad Gita verse, “Yada yada hi dharmasya…”, underlining the divine purpose of Lord Krishna’s incarnation—to restore righteousness and defeat evil. He emphasized that internalizing Krishna’s wisdom can guide individuals to uphold dharma and succeed in life.

Calling it a privilege to attend the event, he praised Sri Puthige Math, part of the revered Ashta Maths, for preserving the Dvaita Vedanta tradition and spreading Indian philosophy globally under the guidance of Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji.

“This Mandalotsava is more than a religious event—it embodies cultural awareness, spiritual strength, and social harmony,” said the Governor. He urged everyone to follow Krishna’s teachings of karma yoga, bhakti yoga, and jnana yoga by performing duties selflessly and righteously.

Swamiji Sugunendra Theertha explained the significance of Sanskrit, calling it the inter-global language, and noted the spiritual greatness of South India as the birthplace of revered Acharyas.

The Governor was honored with ‘Kadegolu’ by the Math, while a documentary on Puthige Math was also screened.

The ceremony was attended by Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji, Sushreendra Theertha Swamiji, MLA Yashpal Suvarna, MAHE Pro Chancellor H S Ballal, and other dignitaries. Ramachandra Upadhyaya and Raghavendra Rao were also felicitated.
