Udupi: Continuous rains in Udupi district have caused partial damage to three houses, with total losses estimated at over Rs 2 lakh.
Houses affected in different taluks
In Mattu village of Kaup taluk, the wall of Sheen’s house collapsed due to heavy downpour. Officials have estimated the damage at more than Rs 1 lakh.
In Kandavara village of Kundapur taluk, the house of Sanna Devadiga suffered extensive damage following strong winds and rains, resulting in losses of over Rs 70,000.
In Ajri village of Kundapur taluk, the house of Rajeev Shetty was also partially damaged by rain, though the estimated losses are yet to be finalised.

According to official data, as of 8:30 am on September 3, Udupi district recorded an average rainfall of 44.4 mm in the last 24 hours. Among the taluks, Byndoor received the highest rainfall at 75.6 mm, followed by:

Residents seek relief
Local residents have urged the district administration to provide immediate compensation and relief materials to affected families, while also requesting preventive measures in vulnerable areas as heavy rains continue.
