Illegal Fireworks Operation Busted in Uppunda by Byndoor Police
In a significant crackdown on illegal fireworks storage, Byndoor police raided a house in Uppunda, uncovering a large stockpile of firecrackers. The accused, Dattatreya Shetty, known for selling fireworks during festivals like Deepavali and Vinayaka Chaturthi, is now facing legal action for his unlawful activities.
The storage site was located near a shed, with a nearby concrete road and a red stone compound that Shetty had built despite objections from the local community. The matter had previously gone to court, resulting in an injunction against Shetty, but he attempted to rebuild the compound, prompting locals to inform the authorities.
Acting on public complaints and concerns over the storage of illegal fireworks, the police searched the premises and found various explosives, including gelatine sticks and firecrackers worth approximately Rs 4 lakh. A case has been registered at the Byndoor police station, and further investigations are underway.
