Manipal, May 23, 2024: Colonel Victor Francis D’Souza (Retired), a highly esteemed officer of the Indian Army, peacefully passed away at his residence in Manipal on Thursday, May 23. He was 79 years old at the time of his demise and was surrounded by his family and close friends.

Colonel D’Souza had a distinguished career spanning 33 years in the Indian Army’s Signals Corps, during which he served with valor in various conflicts and counter-insurgency operations. He played a pivotal role in multi-domain warfare training and actively participated in the 1962, 1965, and 1971 wars.

Following his retirement from the military, Colonel D’Souza dedicated himself to education. He served as the principal of Dr T M A Pai Polytechnic, Manipal, for 12 years, leaving behind a legacy of excellence. Additionally, he contributed significantly to the Christ Church in Manipal, where he served as vice-president and played a crucial role in the establishment of Christ School.

Colonel D’Souza is survived by his wife Elsie, daughter Carrol, sons Carey and Clive, and their respective spouses. He also leaves behind three beloved grandchildren, Anirudh, Calvin, and Anjali.

The funeral cortege will depart from his residence at 104, Mandavi Palace, Manipal, on Friday, May 24, at 9:50 am, with the funeral mass to follow at Mount Rosary Church, Santhekatte-Kalianpur, at 10:30 am.
