Residents of Inna village held a day-and-night protest against the planned construction of a tower for the installation of a 400 kV electricity line from Yellur to Kerala. The contracted company was preparing to begin the work when the community staged their demonstration.
Congress leader Muniyalu Udaya Kumar Shetty expressed opposition to the project, stating, “An unnecessary project should not be carried out. When similar protests occurred in Kerala, underground cables were installed. We support development, but it should not cause hardship to the public. The Deputy Commissioner must engage with the villagers and find an appropriate solution. We will not allow the tower to be built in Inna under any circumstances.”
The protestors, showing solidarity, cooked and shared meals at the protest site. Among the notable attendees were former Inna Gram Panchayat president Kusha Moolya, entrepreneur Ganapati Hege, and members of the protest committee, including Amarnath Shetty, Chandrahas Shetty, Subodh Rao, Keshava Shettigar, Deepak Kotian, Shankar Shetty, Yogish, Deepak Kamath, Divakar Shetty, Prakash Moolya, Harish Shetty, Jaya Kotian, and other Congress leaders.
