In a recent incident in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh, Naxalites targeted a mobile phone tower, setting fire to its equipment. The attack took place during the night between Sunday and Monday in Mormed village, under the jurisdiction of Toynar police station.
According to police officials, the Naxalites, disguised as civilians, stormed the site and set fire to the equipment at the base of the tower, causing significant damage. The Jio tower, which had been recently installed as part of the USOF (Universal Service Obligation Fund) scheme, aims to provide affordable telecom and digital services to rural and remote areas.
Authorities believe that the Naxalites carried out the attack in opposition to the development efforts in the region. Following the incident, a police team was dispatched to assess the damage.
