A 25-year-old man, identified as Kummesh Kunjam from Daler village, was killed by Naxalites in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh, on suspicion of being a police informer. The body was discovered on the Chihka-Tindodi road, under the Bhairamgarh police station limits, on Sunday morning.
Preliminary reports suggest that Kunjam was strangled by the Naxalites, and pamphlets left at the scene by the Bhairamgarh area committee of the banned Maoist group accused him of informing the police. A police team has been dispatched to the location to apprehend the assailants.
This incident adds to the growing number of killings attributed to Naxalites in the Bastar division, which has seen more than 50 deaths this year. The division includes seven districts, including Bijapur.
