Udupi: The Kannarpady Public Shri Ganeshotsava Committee announced that its 20th year of Ganeshotsava celebrations will be held from August 25 to September 7 with grand religious and cultural programmes.
Procession and inauguration
Committee president K. Krishnamurthy Acharya stated that the celebrations would commence on August 25 with a grand procession from Jodukatte to Ganapati Maidan. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar will inaugurate the festival, with dignitaries including Nadoji G. Shankar, Sweaker U.T. Khadar, V.P. Member Ivan D’Souza, Manjunath Bhandari, Vinay Kumar Sorake, and Jayaprakash Shetty participating in various inaugural ceremonies.

Aug 26 – Religious meeting inaugurated by Adamaru Sri Vishwapriya Theertha; MLA Yathpal Suvarna to preside.
Aug 27 – Idol installation and body consecration.
Aug 28–Sep 5 – Various rituals including 108 Kai Gana Yaga, Lakshmi Ganapati Homa, Sahasramodaka Gana Yaga, Prasanna Ganapati Homa, Bala Ganapati Homa, 1008 Kai Gana Yaga, Ekadashi, and Atharvashirsha Gana Yaga.
Sep 6 – Religious meeting chaired by Minister-in-Charge Lakshmi Hebballar; evening cultural programme.
Sep 7 – Debt-relief ceremony and Ganapati Visarjan procession with over 50 tableaux and thousands of devotees.
Cultural programmes and community participation
Cultural performances are planned every evening, featuring traditional music, dance, and folk art. The committee’s general secretary Jayakar Sherigar Kannarpady and other office-bearers expressed gratitude for community support in keeping the tradition alive for two decades.
