Forest personnel from Siddapura wildlife zone apprehended Jagadisha Mesta, 49, from Kodladi village, for illegally transporting 23 kilos of deer meat on a motorcycle. Two accomplices managed to flee the scene. The authorities also seized a knife and gunpowder during the operation, and the case has been transferred to the Kundapura regional zone for further investigation. Jagadisha has been remanded to judicial custody until November 8.
The operation was led by Deputy Zonal Forest Officer Ningappa Wali, with participation from officials Gururaj S. Naik, Vinay, Sunil, and forest beat guards, along with support staff from the poaching prevention camp.
