In a shocking incident, a 32-year-old man, Prashanth Shetty, was murdered by his friend following a heated argument. The incident occurred on the morning of October 22 in a ground-floor room of Krishna Kripa Building, near the old KSRTC bus stand in Udupi.
The accused, identified as Eranna alias Dinesh from Huvinahadagali in Vijayanagara district, allegedly slit Prashanth’s throat during the altercation. Both men were heavily intoxicated, and the argument escalated rapidly, leading to the brutal attack. Prashanth sustained severe injuries and died on the spot.
Following the murder, Eranna called the police to confess. Authorities swiftly arrived at the scene, arrested him, and began questioning. Udupi SP Dr. Arun K, ASP Siddalingappa, and other senior officers visited the crime scene. Fingerprint experts were also summoned to gather evidence.
Although the murder appears to have resulted from a trivial dispute, police are investigating further to determine if any other motives were involved.
