Udupi: In a tragic accident on National Highway 66 near Kinnimulky, Udupi, a 28-year-old MBA student and talented musician, Sankeerthan from Kidiyoor, lost his life after his bike was hit by a speeding car. The incident occurred when the car, reportedly being driven recklessly, collided with multiple vehicles in quick succession, culminating in the fatal hit on the bike.
According to reports, the car was travelling from Kundapura towards Mangaluru on NH-66 when it first collided with a goods vehicle due to negligent driving. Following this, the vehicle veered onto the road divider, rammed the goods vehicle again from the opposite direction, injuring three individuals, and finally struck Sankeerthan’s bike, which was trailing the scene.
The impact of the collision caused Sankeerthan to fall hard onto the road, resulting in critical injuries. He succumbed to them while being rushed to the hospital.
A life cut short
Sankeerthan was known in local circles not only as a final-year MBA student at Alva’s Engineering College, Moodabidri, but also as a gifted Bhajan singer and Tabla player. Friends and community members have expressed deep sorrow over the loss of a promising life known for its blend of academic pursuit and cultural contribution.
Legal action initiated
The Malpe Police Station has registered a case and is investigating the circumstances of the accident. Authorities have yet to reveal further details on the driver of the car or any arrests made as part of the probe.

This incident once again highlights the growing concern over reckless driving on NH-66, a busy arterial highway that has seen frequent accidents. Locals are urging stricter enforcement of traffic regulations and better road monitoring to prevent further tragedies.
