Udupi: Karnataka’s Minister for Religious Endowments and Transport, Ramalinga Reddy, paid a visit to Udupi district recently as part of his official tour.
During his visit, the minister stopped by the Kotilingeshwara Temple in Koteshwara, Kundapur taluk, where he offered special rituals and received prasadam. His visit was marked by a focus on improving infrastructure for temple-goers.
As part of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Ramalinga Reddy inaugurated a new office and sanitation facility constructed by the Koteshwara Seva Trust within the temple compound. These amenities aim to enhance comfort and convenience for devotees.
The minister emphasized that every temple in the state should be equipped with essential infrastructure to better serve the religious community. “Our goal is to ensure that temples not only preserve spiritual heritage but also provide proper facilities to devotees,” he stated.
On this occasion, students and residents from nearby areas submitted a request to the minister, urging the addition of government buses in rural regions of Kundapur and Byndoor. They highlighted the lack of public transportation in interior villages, which poses challenges for school and college-goers.
The minister assured the public that their transportation concerns would be addressed and promised to review bus services across remote areas of the district.
His visit combined religious observance with a push for developmental initiatives aimed at both temples and transportation infrastructure.
