On August 2, MLA Yashpal Suvarna conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Konkan railway station, highlighting critical infrastructure issues and calling for immediate upgrades. The inspection, which follows concerns raised by Daijiworld TV, focused on several pressing problems including the absence of a foot-over-bridge, inadequate platforms, insufficient toilet facilities, and poor access to clean drinking water.

Yashpal directed railway authorities to address these issues by utilizing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds for necessary repairs and to draft a proposal outlining required improvements for submission to the government. He also suggested that if the parking area is transferred to the city municipality, it would manage its development.

In addition to infrastructure improvements, Yashpal emphasized the need for better waste segregation at the station, a request made by municipal authorities. He proposed the establishment of a dedicated Udupi tourism counter and a taxi association to assist tourists. He also called for clearing wild grasses from the station’s surroundings, repainting the station walls, and repairing wall leakages.

Addressing the media, Yashpal Suvarna noted that the Konkan railway station is set for an upgrade under the Amruth Bharath Yojana. Plans have been presented to the government, including discussions on parking, security, and sanitation facilities. He assured that efforts are underway to secure CSR funding from Canara Bank, the Adani Group, and other private entities for projects like a foot-over-bridge and platform improvements.

The proposal, previously delayed due to elections, will be actively pursued for the benefit of the public.
