Udupi: The Udupi Municipal Council has launched a campaign, Swachh Nagara Panchami Abhiyan, to transform the Nagar Panchami festival into an environmental protection movement. The aim is to maintain a clean environment and prevent the spread of diseases like dengue and malaria.
During the festival, the council will ensure proper waste collection and disposal. Public toilets in 35 wards will be equipped with municipal dustbins and bag systems. The municipal cleaning team will use vehicles to collect waste from Nagabanas.
The Udupi Municipal Council’s initiative could serve as a model for other local government bodies across the country. By implementing a systematic waste collection process, they can contribute to environmental protection and maintain a clean environment.
The campaign encourages community involvement in maintaining a clean environment. By working together, the council and citizens can ensure a healthier and more sustainable environment.
