Mysterious Death of Missing Man in Gujjadi Village
Gujjadi Village: The remains of a 72-year-old missing man, identified as Karunakara from Guddamaadi village, were discovered on Saturday, September 21, with his head severed from his body, along the banks of the Panchagangavali River in Kalihitlu. Karunakara had been reported missing after leaving his daughter’s home in Kenchanooru on September 19, stating he was returning home.
After having dinner and spending the night at his daughter’s place, he vanished the following morning. It is believed that Karunakara may have jumped into the river near the Bantwadi Bridge in Senapura village. Search operations were conducted throughout Friday, but it was not until Saturday that his remains were found under suspicious circumstances, leading to questions about the cause of his death.
Initial theories suggest that Karunakara might have hanged himself before jumping into the river, although the exact circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear. His body has been sent to Manipal KMC Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Reports indicate that Karunakara had lived in cities such as Mumbai and Bengaluru before returning to his hometown about five or six months ago.
Authorities are now investigating to determine whether Karunakara’s death was a suicide or a homicide. A case has been registered at the Gangolli police station, and further inquiries are underway.
