In a significant breakthrough, Brahmavar police apprehended a habitual offender involved in multiple thefts, recovering cash and valuables worth ₹36,000.

The arrest is linked to a theft reported on August 4 at Chantaru village, within the Brahmavar Police Station limits. The victim, a pigmy collection agent, had parked his two-wheeler and secured the side box containing daily collections before heading to a hotel for further work. Upon return, he discovered the lock broken and cash, along with documents like PAN and Aadhaar cards, missing.

Following the complaint, police initiated a swift investigation and arrested Santosh Hanumanth Kattimani (39), a resident of Nimbala village in Indi taluk, Vijayapura district. According to Udupi SP Hariram Shankar, the accused was in possession of ₹32,000 in cash and a stolen mobile phone.

The coordinated operation was conducted under the leadership of SP Hariram Shankar and Additional SP Sudhakar Naik. The investigation was executed by Deputy SP Prabhu DT of the Udupi Sub-Division, under the supervision of Circle Police Inspector Gopikrishna of Brahmavar.

Police confirmed the suspect’s involvement in other similar cases and are probing further to uncover additional offenses.
