Former minister Pramod Madhwaraj has voiced strong criticism against the district in-charge minister for neglecting Udupi district during natural disasters like floods and the dengue outbreak. He questioned the ministers’ inaction, stating, “Why have the district administration ministers been so negligent towards Udupi district? It is condemnable that despite immense losses to people and their properties due to natural disasters, no relief measures have been implemented so far.”
Yashpal Suvarna, MLA of Udupi Assembly constituency, has requested the state government allocate Rs 50 crore for relief efforts in Udupi district. Madhwaraj emphasized the urgency of this request, urging immediate action from the state government and district in-charge ministers regarding the natural disasters.
He criticized Laxmi Hebbalkar for not visiting Udupi despite coming as close as Mangaluru, and accused the government of neglecting Karavali districts due to their support for the BJP. Madhwaraj stated, “It is not right to bring politics to the level of playing with people’s lives. The government should immediately take steps to control natural disasters such as floods and dengue.”
Madhwaraj’s statements highlight the frustration and urgency felt by Udupi residents, calling for swift government action to address the ongoing crises.
