The Kundapur Taluk Working Journalists’ Association organized a protest near Kundapur Taluk Hospital, highlighting the town municipality’s inaction on repairing damaged road humps within the town’s municipality limits. Despite causing significant inconvenience to the public, the municipality has yet to take corrective measures, with representatives and the newly appointed chief officer failing to address the issue promptly.
Dalit leader Udaya Kumar Tallur criticized the negligence, demanding immediate action to repair the humps and warning of stronger protests if the situation persists. Nagaraja Rayappanamata, president of the Kundapur Taluk Working Journalists’ Association, echoed these sentiments, pointing out that road humps had been removed for the chariot festival but were never repaired, despite numerous reports.
Responding to the protest, Ananda, the municipality’s chief officer, explained that repairs were delayed due to the ongoing election code of conduct but assured that a decision to fix the issue had already been made.
The protest saw participation from the Working Journalists’ Association, auto-rickshaw unions, the Kundapur Photographers’ Association, and concerned members of the public.
