Udupi: In a moving act of community service and educational upliftment, students of National High School, Barkur received free school uniforms for the academic year 2025–26, thanks to the Rotary Club of Barkur and Kishoo Enterprises, Udupi – the local franchisee of Daijiworld.

Held on July 7 in the college auditorium, the uniform distribution ceremony was marked by a sense of unity, gratitude, and service. The programme began with a soulful hymn by the schoolgirls, followed by a warm welcome and floral greetings for dignitaries. Seetharam S efficiently compered the event.

Support That Speaks Volumes

Chief guest Ashok Kumar Shetty, secretary of Barkur Educational Society, praised the continuous support from Rotary Barkur and Kishoo Enterprises, who have now sponsored uniforms for three consecutive years. He acknowledged this as a crucial contribution to the well-being of students.

Kishore Gonsalves, director of Kishoo Enterprises and a proud alumnus of NJC, was honoured with a shawl and memento. In an emotional speech, he reminisced about his school days and promised enduring support to his alma mater.

NJC correspondent Gopala Naik thanked all partners and praised Kishori Sachindra Shetty, the newly appointed Rotary president. In her presidential address, she encouraged students to value such opportunities and affirmed Rotary’s commitment to education.

The event also celebrated a heartfelt gesture by the outgoing student batch, who donated a sound system to the school—a symbol of gratitude and legacy.
