On the evening of January 29, a multiple-vehicle collision occurred near Thenka Yermal on National Highway 66, involving two cars and a school bus. The crash resulted in the school bus overturning after it collided with an overturned car.
The sequence of events began when a car, traveling from Udupi towards Mangaluru, hit a woman and then flipped over in the middle of the highway. Simultaneously, a school bus returning from dropping students off and heading towards Kaup Chandranagar collided with the overturned vehicle. The impact caused the bus to cross the divider and overturn on the Mangaluru-bound lane. Meanwhile, an Innova, traveling in the same direction as the bus, collided with another car.
Remarkably, no major injuries were reported. The drivers of all three vehicles sustained only minor injuries. There were no students aboard the school bus at the time of the incident, averting a potential tragedy. Toll staff quickly responded, using a crane to lift the overturned bus.
Padubidri police arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation into the accident.
