Brahmavar, Udupi: In a targeted crackdown on illegal activities, Brahmavar police arrested six individuals for engaging in gambling inside a lodge room on July 31.

Those taken into custody have been identified as Gopal, Ramesh, Abhilasha, Vikram, Ratnakar, and Hussain. The group was allegedly involved in a card game with stakes when the police raided the premises.

Authorities confiscated ₹2,38,000 in cash during the operation, along with five mobile phones believed to be used during the gambling session. The arrested individuals were caught red-handed in the act, police said.

A formal case has been registered at the Brahmavar police station, and further investigation is underway to determine whether the accused are linked to a larger gambling network operating in the area.

Police officials reiterated their commitment to curbing such unlawful gatherings and warned of strict action against those violating public order and gaming laws.
