Smvitm Organizes Awareness Drive Against Plastic On World Environment Day

On June 5, Sri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, came together with its NSS-YRC-RC unit and environmental club to conduct a significant “Awareness Drive Against Plastic” in celebration of World Environment Day. Over 500 enthusiastic student volunteers actively participated in this initiative, spreading awareness and promoting waste minimization strategies in and around the college campus.

The students engaged in distributing paper covers and paper bags, which they had made themselves, to local medical and grocery shops. This effort aimed to highlight the importance of reducing plastic usage and advocating for the principles of reuse, reduce, and recycle to combat environmental degradation.

Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal, and Dr. Ganesh Aithal, Vice Principal, along with deans and the Student Welfare Officer, commended the students for their proactive involvement and dedication to environmental conservation. Nagaraja Rao, coordinator of the NSS-YRC-RC unit, played a pivotal role in organizing and coordinating the awareness drive.

Key figures like Raghunath, Jayaram Naik, Dr. Ganesh Prasad, and Raghavendra G S actively participated in the drive, providing guidance and motivation to the students throughout the event.
