In a shocking incident, a speeding car crashed into the first-phase drinking water pump house of Udupi City Municipality at Ishwar Nagar, Parkala, around 1 am. Fortunately, a staff member sleeping inside the pump house escaped unharmed, though the front of the car was completely destroyed, and the pump house suffered significant damage.

This accident has raised concerns about the negligence of authorities, as the pump house, located near a national highway, lacks safety barriers and proper warning signs. Additionally, there are no indicators for the old road ahead, increasing the danger for vehicles in the area. Ongoing construction work, which had left the road near the pump house dug up, was not properly completed, further adding to the risk.

Locals report that this is not the first incident at this location. On Krishna Janmastami, two cars were involved in an accident in front of the same pump house. The lack of signage and protective fencing around the structure continues to be a concern for residents, who are now demanding immediate action to construct safety barriers to prevent future accidents.
