
Spike of Success: SMVITM Hosts VTU Mangalore Division Volleyball Tournament 2025
Udupi – The VTU Mangalore Division Intercollegiate Volleyball Tournament (Men) 2025 wrapped up with great energy and enthusiasm at Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, as teams from engineering colleges across the division came together in the spirit of sportsmanship.
The tournament kicked off with a grand inauguration ceremony on the college grounds. Dr. Radhakrishna S Aithal, CEO of Shri Sode Vadiraja Mutt Educational Institutions, attended as chief guest, and Dr. Thirumaleshwara Bhat, Principal of SMVITM, presided over the event.
In his address, Dr. Aithal highlighted the importance of sports in holistic education, noting that volleyball not only enhances fitness but also supports cardiovascular health. He applauded the organizing team for conducting the tournament with excellence.
Dr. Bhat, in his presidential remarks, stressed the value of balancing mental, physical, and social well-being, urging students to pursue sports for a healthier lifestyle.
A total of 14 teams participated, with matches played in a competitive yet friendly atmosphere. The teams were introduced by Paul Suraj, Physical Education Director, and Shubhashree, PE Instructor. The presence of experienced referees and sports officials ensured smooth coordination.
The event began with an invocation by Aditya Deshpande, and the introduction of dignitaries by Soundarya, Assistant Professor, CSE. The program was anchored by Preethi, Senior Assistant Professor, CSE.
The event concluded with cheers and celebration, underlining SMVITM’s commitment to nurturing talent and promoting physical education.
