“Sulibele Spreads Lies, Udupi Won’t Tolerate Hatred”: Minister Hebbalkar Slams BJP
Udupi – Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar, in charge of Udupi district and head of the Women and Child Development Ministry, strongly criticized right-wing orator Chakravarthy Sulibele, calling him a habitual liar who misuses epics like the Ramayana, Bhagavad Gita, and Mahabharata to spread misinformation.
Addressing the press during her Udupi visit, Hebbalkar remarked, “Everyone in Karnataka knows Sulibele’s tendency to twist facts. While he’s free to visit Udupi, he must refrain from spreading hate or false narratives. Udupi is a peaceful district, and such rhetoric won’t be tolerated.”
She reaffirmed the Congress Party’s commitment to upholding freedom of speech and constitutional values, stating, “Congress has always defended the Constitution. We don’t need lectures from Sulibele or his likes.”
Taking a jab at the BJP MLAs opposing the Special Task Force in Coastal Karnataka, Hebbalkar said, “Their double standards are exposed—they provoke communal tensions and then object to the very force designed to curb it.”
On the 5% housing allotment to minorities, she clarified that it was a central government scheme, simply approved by the state cabinet. “The BJP is finding faults where none exist. They mocked our guarantee schemes, doubted our governance, yet we proved them wrong with 136 seats. They continue to mislead the public without real issues.”
Regarding the intense rainfall in Udupi, she assured, “We’ve asked officials to stay alert. Compared to previous years, we’re better equipped to handle this monsoon.”
