Udupi – In a fresh round of administrative reshuffling, the Karnataka government has announced the transfer of several District Commissioners, including those of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada.
Vidyakumari, who had been serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Udupi since July 2023, has been relieved from her post. In her place, Swaroopa TK has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner.
Swaroopa TK belongs to the 2012 batch of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). She will now be heading the district administration in Udupi following this latest directive from the state government.
The transfer is part of a larger overhaul aimed at optimizing governance and administrative efficiency across key districts. While Dr. Vidyakumari had been overseeing Udupi’s development and public service delivery for nearly a year, her successor, Swaroopa TK, is expected to bring in a fresh perspective and momentum to ongoing initiatives.
With the new appointment coming into immediate effect, Swaroopa TK is set to assume responsibilities shortly, ensuring a smooth transition of administrative duties.
Such changes are routine in the bureaucracy, designed to align governance strategies with evolving district needs.
