Manipal police have arrested Santhosh (29), a resident of Saralebettu, for his involvement in a gold chain robbery.
The crime took place on March 29, when the victim was heading home after work. Near a private college in Manipal, the suspect allegedly stalked her, seized her by the neck, and forcefully snatched a 45-gram gold chain before fleeing. Following the victim’s complaint, police registered a case and launched an investigation.
A dedicated police team, including Inspector Devaraj T V, ASI Vivek, Head Constable Prasanna, and Constables Manjunath and Raviraj, tracked down and apprehended the accused on April 3 with the aid of a canine unit.
Authorities successfully recovered the stolen gold chain, valued at approximately ₹3.5 lakh. The accused has been placed under judicial custody as legal proceedings continue.
