In a major crackdown on fuel theft, the Shankaranarayana police detained a tanker operator, Jayaram, for allegedly pilfering diesel from vehicles transporting fuel. Upon receiving confidential information, law enforcement officials conducted a raid near a fuel station along the Siddapura-Amparu route, where they discovered Jayaram discreetly extracting diesel and transferring it into containers.

During interrogation, he admitted to siphoning 20 liters from each tanker and supplying it to an accomplice, Vijay, who managed to escape before police arrived. The stolen fuel was intended for illegal resale.

Massive Fuel Seizure

Authorities confiscated a stockpile of 1,020 liters of diesel, 30 liters of petrol, three hoses, and a fuel extraction pump from the location. The operation exposed a well-planned scheme targeting tankers traveling towards Chitradurga and other regions.

Legal Action Initiated

A case has been officially lodged at the Shankaranarayana Police Station under multiple legal provisions, including Sections 303(2) and 112 of BNS, Sections 3 and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act (1955), and Section 23 of the Petroleum Act. The police are intensifying efforts to locate and arrest Vijay, the alleged fuel buyer.

This incident highlights the growing menace of fuel theft, impacting both businesses and consumers. Authorities urge vigilance and prompt reporting of suspicious activities.
