Udupi: A 53-year-old man, Krishna Naik, lost his life after being attacked by a swarm of bees while working in his field in Hebri on December 19.

According to a complaint filed by his brother, the incident occurred as Krishna Naik went about his daily tasks in the field. Suddenly, a swarm of bees descended upon him. Due to restricted mobility, he was unable to flee and suffered multiple stings, leaving him in a critical condition.

Krishna managed to reach home, where his brothers, Vittal and Narasimha, rushed him to the government hospital in Kokkarne for immediate care. As his condition worsened, he was referred to Ajjarkad District Hospital in Udupi and subsequently transferred to Wenlock District Hospital in Mangaluru.

Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Krishna Naik succumbed to his injuries on December 23. The tragic incident has been reported as an unnatural death, and a case has been registered at the Hebri police station.

The incident underscores the dangers farmers face while working in nature and highlights the need for awareness and preventive measures against such unforeseen hazards.
