A tragic incident unfolded at Kodi Beach on the evening of December 7, when three brothers, part of a family outing, were swept away by the sea while swimming.
Dhanraj (23), the son of Damodar Prabhu from Amparu Five Cents, tragically lost his life in the incident. His brother, Dhanush (20), is in critical condition and is receiving treatment at a private hospital in Kundapur. Their cousin, Darshan (18), remains missing, and search operations are underway.
The trio, who are siblings, had gone swimming at Kodi Beach around 6 pm. Dhanraj and Dhanush were reportedly wearing masks and goggles, suggesting they were well-prepared for the swim. Dhanush, a student at NITK Surathkal, was critically injured and was rushed to the hospital.
Tourists from Bengaluru, who witnessed the incident, immediately jumped into the sea and managed to rescue two of the brothers. Local residents also assisted in rushing the survivors to the hospital. However, despite extensive efforts, Darshan remains missing.
Search operations continue with expert swimmers, firefighters, and police personnel working to locate Darshan. A case has been registered at the Kundapur police station regarding the incident.
